The Brief

We teamed up with Creative Black Country (CBC) to help design and develop their new website. The brief was to create a functional, accessible and visually striking site that communicated the companies message clearly and effectively.

The Solution

CBC are dedicated to promoting art and culture events around the Black Country area therefore the need for events to be shown clearly was imperative. Working with the team we provided ideas and drafts that were tailored to their needs. We developed two different layout styles for the what’s on page to maximise the viewers experience. A map with pins placed where the event is being taken place is great for people wanting to know what’s going on in specific areas. The site also displays the information in a more visual and creative way. The list view displays the same information in an alternative layout suitable for the less tech savvy and people who want to browse the events. The whole design is vibrant, minimalistic and colour coded for user accessibility.

The CBC team commented saying that this site was more interactive than their previous site which meant that outside organisations could contribute to their events page. This was a real time saver for them, as they could rely on local communities to update the site on their own. More than anything it gave a good first impression to potential clients and presented Creative Black Country as a high quality art organisation. This elevated web presence enabled them to get their name out there and meant CBC were more confident in approaching artists, businesses and other organisations.

Creative Black Country have now exhibited at the Southbank Centre in London and been made a feature by various TV and radio documentaries including the BBC world service. They have taken on two new members of staff and many of their community based projects have also been awarded grants and prizes from national art and nature organisations.

The Feedback

“Bostin Design worked alongside us on a brief for a functional, accessible and visually striking website. It was important for us that our company’s key messages were supported in our online presence and Bostin were remarkably sympathetic to this and able to provide us with a high quality website within a relatively short timeframe. They made the whole process exceptionally straightforward, were responsive to all of our requests and maintained an ongoing dialogue throughout.

Everyone at Creative Black Country have really enjoyed working with the Bostin team as they supported us with training around the functionality of the site; they were patient and flexible in ensuring we were able to understand and operate the software.

We would not hesitate to recommend their services to other arts organisations, or indeed any business in general, that require bespoke, appealing design coupled with excellent customer service.”
